There couldn’t have been a better day for a September horse drive then the one we had at Christ and Sandy Madsen’s farm.
Although the farm fields are brown from lack of rain, the rolling hills are always impressive. A little cloud cover helped to kept the temperature down. The six milers circled Perch Lake and went past the Bass Lake Cheese Factory which was holding a mini Sturgis-type motorcycle gathering. Parked motorcycles filled the parking lot and spilled onto the shoulders of the county roads near the store. Late comers were still on route, passing our horses every few minutes. A few bikers clapped as the horses passed through the crowd and a few of the horses trotted through as if they were in a parade.
The pot luck at Madsen’s was delicious. It was a great day!
