The spectacular fall weather on the day of our drive is one of the reasons many Minnesotans are willing to put up with Minnesota winters. The leaves on the trees were exceptionally colorful, and with little wind, the colors were reflected in every pond we passed. Four vehicles set out along gravel roads to enjoy the beautiful day. A single-horse hitch, a pony-hitch, a two-horse draft team and a 3-horse draft-pony team carried 12 pass on beautiful gravel roads in Grant, MN. Everyone enjoyed the fall colors, and we passed 4 sandhill cranes feeding in a wetland along the roadside. After the drive, we were joined by several other members for a lunch and a meeting. One couple who did not go on the ride had stopped to pick up a pony sleigh to take home, that was in the back of their truck. The little portland sleigh was a popular conversation piece, since there are not too many pony sleighs to be found.
